Imagining Fashion for Spring 2018

"Fashion is architecture: it is a matter of proportions." - Coco Chanel

I have not always been a trendy female when it came to clothing and accessorizing. It wasn't until I began attending university that I acquired interest in certain fashion trends and pieces, thanks to the access of the Internet and online collages. The idea of mixing-and-matching an outfit together was stimulating to me, because of what the final set would turn out to be. The approach developed into this question: How can I make this work? It's a process of thought and construction. And when you add the final piece, the course of action is perfectly executed. Referring to Coco Chanel's quote, fashion is somewhat of an art form like architecture. People are constantly applying and designing new ways to create something that is envisioned. What makes fashion so appealing is the personal taste and singularity that can define an individual. Do clothes make the man or woman? Perhaps. It depends on how you want to look at it. There are countless ways on how to integrate various styles. Not to mention the assorted diversity of clothing and accessory pieces. Although you, the reader, may have different preferences apart from mine when it comes to fashion, I totally accept and applaud your individuality and uniqueness. Here are my personal recommendations and ideas for the upcoming Spring season that may offer some interesting insight.

Outfit Set #1 (For Her)
A cozy, but casual look for Spring. The black stripes present a bold contrast to the cream color of the turtleneck cable knit sweater. Slim and dark denim jeans, black or blue, accentuate the legs which allows for her to appear taller. A basic white shirt is compatible with nearly any type of clothing piece. (Although, I personally avoid white clothes because I sweat easily...) Can be worn under with a long-sleeved denim or blue shirt. And finally, the shoes. Clean, white sneakers if you're feeling sporty and casual. Maroon red flats if you're going for the casual but dressy look. Perfect for a coffee date or a day out with friends.

Outfit Set #2 (For Her)
If you're a student like me, you may find this next outfit to be appealing. Students are always on-the-go, so it is a win-win situation if the outfit is stylish but comfortable at the same time. For this set, we have a bold blue graphic hoodie with a pair of high-waisted denim jeans. High school and college students typically wear their campus sweatshirts or hoodies. And I can understand why. Because they're so comfortable and roomy to wear! Sneakers are a must if you're walking (or running) from classroom to classroom. I suggest Vans Sk8-Hi skate shoes. Top it off with a cute backpack with school stationery supplies and a pair of trendy spectacles, if your vision is not very clear.

Outfit Set #3 (For Her)
If you're a girl who is about to go out on a fun date with a significant other, this third outfit may strike up some ideas. A cute, floral sundress for the day will brighten up any mood along with a holographic clutch. Completing the outfit with adorable character socks and a pair of platform sneakers or flats compliment the overall dress. Lastly, can't forget about the coffee especially if you're a caffeine addict. 😎
Outfit Set #4 (For Her & My Personal Favorite)
Lately, I've been trying to experiment with minimalist elements in fashion. I tend to lean more towards a monochrome-inspired but simple style. My all-time favorite color is black because it goes so well with just about everything. Plus, the color itself is sleek, mysterious, and clean. When it comes to these types of styles, I usually seek out and wear unisex or even men's pieces of clothing. Not ashamed of it either. Here, we have a basic but edgy outfit that presents simplicity. Once again, the dark and slim denim jeans come into play but this time, with rips. A black V-neck tee is essential for any casual outfit. On top of that is a black 3/4 sleeved jacket. Accessorize with minimal jewelry, such as a long-chained feather necklace or a few number of rings. Finally, finish it off with a pair of kick-ass Doc Marten combat punk boots.
